Hi everyone, Andrea here! 🙋🏻‍♀️

As some of you may know, I always felt left out when it came to earrings since my ears aren’t pierced, and i didn’t like that the clip-ons available were either vintage or for kids. That’s why I started Aiori—to create stylish, modern clip-on jewelry for people like me.

Although I design all our pieces, I never considered myself a ‘designer’ because I don’t have formal fashion training. But last year, seeing our jewelry on the runway at Toronto Fashion Week was a defining moment. It was surreal watching something I created take center stage and challenge the misconception that clip-ons are unfashionable or outdated.

This year, I’m honoured to participate in AsianNYFW and to showcase our pieces on such a prestigious platform. It’s a reminder that fashion is about passion, vision, and breaking boundaries, regardless of the path you take.

Here’s a quick look at us behind the scenes:

The team for the day consisted of: Myself (on model fitting duty), Jasmine (our social media manager on BTS content), and Karmen (our content creator for the day!). Nervous but excited, we were on-site at 9am to work with the designers to help with styling and fitting the model with our pieces.

Although we were previously part of the Toronto Fashion Week, being back-of-house at a New York Fashion Week Show was a different type of chaotic! However, we managed to get all the pieces styled and fitted properly on the models in time for the runway.

At Claudia Amaya’s fitting, we loved the versatile and elevated look of her pieces. It was a no brainer to style it with some of our pieces from our upcoming Midnight collection with bold gold and silver statement pieces.

Seeing our pieces on the runway is definitely a very different experience. I still get goosebumps watching our pieces come down the runway. Here’s to AsianNYFW and to many more fashion shows to come!
